Q: How much does it cost to have a funeral?

Q: Do MBCOL charge for providing funeral services?
A: No. MBCOL does not charge for providing funeral services however there is a nominal charge (currently set at £20) applied when the funeral vehicle is used. This fee is for the volunteer driver allocated for the funeral and is paid directly to him by the family for his time.
 
Q: How much does it cost to bury someone who is not a resident of Leicester?
A: Unfortunately like many other authorities, Leicester City Council burial charges are doubled for non residents of Leicester City.
 
Q: Is there any financial assistance for a family if they cannot afford to pay for a funeral?
A: Yes. Financial assistance can be acquired by applying for the Governments “Funeral Fund
 
Q: How much does it cost for a fetus or stillbirth burial?
A: Burial of a fetus or stillbirth within the designated area of the Muslim section is free. No interment charges are applied.
 
Q: If I wish to reserve a grave do I have to pay for it now or when its used?
A: Any reserved graves have to be paid for at the time of application. It should be noted that council policy will only allow one grave to be reserved next to the grave of the family member that has been buried.
